has a jw every told you that, or have you ever heard a jw accuse other's who leave of that?.

sometimes i wonder if some jws do not have a very dark side to their personalities... a blood lust even.

i have literally had them confess to me that they would be like a wild animal if it was not for being in the borg... even inclined to kill for pleasure.

!919 God chose them, recient articles???

hey folks,.

i was in a discussion with a jw and the subject came up about the watchtower and their fds being gods sole channel and visable org.

i mentioned that the watchtower claims that they were chosen in 1919. i was abruptly told that had to have come from old literature.

But in the spring of 1919, Jehovah had mercy on this remnant of spiritual Israelites. (Galatians 6:16) He saw their repentance and their desire to worship him in truth, so he brought about their release from literal imprisonment and, more important, from spiritual captivity. These "escaped ones" were restored to their God-given spiritual estate, which he caused to sprout abundantly. This spiritual estate has presented an inviting, attractive appearance, which has drawn millions of other God-fearing people to join the remnant in true worship.

In 537 B.C.E., the remnant that returned to Jerusalem did so with a pure motive?to restore true worship. No one contaminated by pagan religious practices or by the unclean conduct that Isaiah had so forcefully warned against had a right to return. (Isaiah 1:15-17) Only those whom Jehovah viewed as holy could head back to Judah. (Isaiah 35:8) Similarly, since their release from spiritual captivity in 1919, the anointed remnant, now joined by millions of "other sheep"?those with the hope of everlasting life on earth?have made every effort to be holy in God?s sight. (John 10:16) They have rid themselves of Babylonish teachings and practices. Individually, they strive to hold to God?s high standards of morality. (1 Peter 1:14-16) Jehovah?s mercy on them has not been in vain.

Notice that first comes the cleansing, then the blessings. This has proved true in our day. Back in 1919 the anointed remnant humbly submitted to being refined, and Jehovah "washed away" their uncleanness. Since then, "a great crowd" of other sheep have also allowed themselves to be cleansed by Jehovah. (Revelation 7:9) Thus cleansed, the remnant and their companions have been blessed?Jehovah has taken them into his protective care. He does not miraculously prevent the heat of persecution or the storms of opposition from bearing down on them. But he does protect them, as if erecting over them ?a booth for shade and for a hiding place from the rainstorm.? How?

Christ Jesus referred to "a conclusion of a system of things" as a time of harvest when the angels would gather in "the sons of the kingdom"?those with the hope of ruling with Jesus in heavenly glory. (Matthew 13:36-43) Since 1919, Jehovah has empowered "the remaining ones" of these sons to share with the angels in the harvest work. (Revelation 12:17) Thus, to start with, "the sons of the kingdom," Jesus? anointed brothers, are the ones gathered. Then they share in a further gathering work.

as i was trying to settle into my new life i constantly plagued myself with questions about where i had been and a bigger question, where i was going.

in the mid eighties there wasn't easy access to any exjw's to ask questions and help me through a very difficult transition in my life.

today the internet offers a lot of support through a large collection of exjw's from all over the world who offer many various options based on their own personal experience on where to go once you are out of the cult.

I just had a thought. I often lurk, but not post, while my JW wife is present. She is away tonight.

I wonder what would have happened if she had seen me break down and cry when reading your post.

It took me a while to recover my composure and continue reading your story after that line, Dave.

Your story reminds me of my past, but mine was nowhere near as extreme. I count myself lucky.

There are many friends and family that I would love to be able to show your story (and other tales on this site) to, but I just have to bottle things up and keep the peace so that they won't shun me and lose their chance of hearing the seeds of doubt I try to sow.

their friendship and loyalty to the end struck me as so amazing.

coming from where we do with so much dictated to us about loyalty and "christian love" and being "god's happy people" i realize they don't have a clue.

"no matter what" my mother shuns me and my daughters.

I often wonder how my parents would treat me if I had been dunked and DFd rather than drifted.

Now that they know I am now longer merely drifted they are still treating me OK, but it has only been a short time. I will just have to wait and see if their love is truly unconditional.

Quick Introduction

i've been lurking here for a few months now, and i've been wanting to post for awhile now but i've never really been up to it.

i first stumbled upon the information about the wtbts being an ngo for 10 years in september, and ever since i've been finding out about all the other things the society has been up to.

as of now, i'm still going to the meetings, but now my eyes have been truly opened, and i can see things in a whole new perspective, and it's amazing the deception that's going on in the organization.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you get as much fun, help, and enjoyment here as I have.

I see you are in a difficult situation, as I am. I find things a bit of a tightrope walk with my family and wish I had spent more time here before I opened my big mouth.

One thing I have learned here is that there is plenty of time, armageddon is coming no time soon and there is ample time to sow seeds of doubt in famiy members without appearing to be an apostle of Satan.

If you take it easy and just ask your Mum the right questions at the right time and get her to think for herself you may be able to take her with you, rather than become the bane of her life.

Length of creative days.

now that we're starting to read the bible at the beginning again.........i was wondering if this subject has ever been discussed.. the length of the creative days........used to be considered 7000 years in length.......stated rather dogmatically up until around the mid 1980's.

(aid book says this......insight book does not) of course....this is quite rediculous.......... more recent publications don't stress this .........just periods of time.......... yet there was never anything published to indicate how wrong this old view was.........done very gradually.......i think some still think the creative days were still 7000 years long.. if this topic has come up before.....maybe someone could post a link to it..
